A Personal Message to Our Valued Nap Nanny Customers:
As a company founded by family-focused parents, the comfort and safety of your baby has always been of utmost importance to us.
That is why we fully support the Consumer Product Safety Commission's request for a voluntary recall of 30,000 Nap Nanny® infant recliners, to help insure that our product is being used properly, safely and only on the floor.
It was launched in full cooperation with the CPSC, after 22 reports of infants hanging or falling over the side of the recliner (even when the harness appears to be secured), and following the tragic death of a child after a Nap Nanny® was placed in a crib, contrary to warnings and instructions.
To prevent this type of incident in the future, we urge parents and caregivers to determine which Nap Nanny model you own, and to take the appropriate action:
-
A) If it’s a first generation Nap Nanny®, purchased at
retail prior to August 15, 2009, you may apply for an $80
discount coupon towards the purchase of a new Nap Nanny,
with free shipping. (The model can be identified by the
absence of Velcro straps inside the cover securing the
cover to the foam base.)
B) If it’s a second generation Nap Nanny (Gen2), sold at retail beginning in August 2009 and phased out in December 2010, please view the warnings and instructions video located on this page (see above). This video demonstrates how to properly use the Nap Nanny, and will tell you about the hazards associated with improper use. The Gen2 can be identified by the Velcro straps inside the cover, which attach to a ring, securing it to the foam base.
C) Please note our Nap Nanny Chill model, which has been sold at retail since January, 2011, does NOT have D-rings and velcro straps. Instead the straps on the Nap Nanny Chill are attached directly to the foam base. You can also identify the Nap Nanny Chill by measuring the distance in the bucket of the seat. It will measure 6.5 inches, rather than 10 inches in the older models (Gen1 and Gen2). The Nap Nanny Chill is NOT and has never been part of a recall.

For all parents and caregivers: As noted in the warning stickers, tags and online information, the Nap Nanny® should never be placed inside a crib, play yard or other confined area, or on a table, countertop or other elevated surface. The baby can fall or hang over of the side of the Nap Nanny , and become entrapped and suffocate; or if the child falls off the elevated surface, there is a risk of serious head injury. Consumers are strongly advised to follow all instructions, and use the Nap Nanny® ONLY on the floor.
In addition, we also encourage you to review the CPSC’s safe sleep guidelines, which includes what to avoid using in a crib: http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml08/08203.html .
If you are unable to view the Nap Nanny warnings video or instructions online, please contact us to receive free copies by mail. For more information, call the recall hotline at (888) 240-4282 between 9am and 5 p.m. (Eastern) Monday through Friday, or visit our Web site at http://www.napnanny.co m/recall.
At Nap Nanny, our goal is to help babies rest safely, comfortably and longer. We believe in our product 100%, and want to make absolutely certain every Nap Nanny is being used correctly. Thank you for taking the time to review this letter.
Very Sincerely,
Leslie Gudel
